Belts and Diane von Furstenberg.

As I focus more on purchasing accessories, I've been trying to find interesting belts to add to my wardrobe. You can see I am quite on the mission here & here... I really am trying to figure out my perfect personal style and what I am gravitating to is simple outfits paired with interesting accessories. I am all about jeans (or skinny pants), plain tops (even a t-shirt) with a great addition of a statement jewelry, killer shoes or (now) a belt...

I just purchased one from shopbop: Diane von Furstenberg Ava Leather belt in nude (the one I got from shopbop is sold out, but it looks like it's still available here).

Fingers crossed it looks as pictured!

Tuesdays cravings......Rory Beca

I think I discovered a new brand that might fit my style - Rory Beca! Bloomingdales carries the brand as well; I need to find the time to see how the clothes are in real.

All the collections online are full of summery beautiful colors... and lots of silky and breezy fabrics!

i. I love this combination: blazer and a fun bright dress. I already posted this picture on my blog before while completely clueless it was Rory Beca.
Both items on sale: dress $104.50 (different color) & blazer $100.10

ii. This is such a beautiful shot... Probably I would end up wearing this dress only once (too revealing for me), but it's such a beautiful dress I wanted to share. And I love how it's style with the belt...
$194 Baille Wrap Gathered Dress
iii. ... But this dress might come as more useful. Paired with a blazer and a tink top, maybe I can pull it for work.
$207 dress
iv. I love this blouse! Shopbop had it on sale, but sadly I missed out. It's sold out, but a great example of the label's spirit.
$88 at Rory Beca
v. Hmmm.. maybe I should get this top!
$97 Pocket Tunic

Club Monaco - new scores!

How was everyone's weekend? I worked late on Friday and then again on Saturday, but I still managed to squeeze in some fun:
-  watching the Olympics...
 - revisiting the SF Asian Art Museum (this is more or less becoming my boyfriend's and mine weekend routine) to enjoy newly found treasures and to see, yet again!, my favorite Sarif's painting... here
- eating delicious pho..
- hair appointment (much needed!)
- and of course... some shopping... at Club Monaco. They are having great sale going on!

i. I finally got this sweater. I've been eyeing it for quite a while and was quite pleased to see it on sale. It looks really nice in the real life (I feel like the picture does not do it full justice).
$89 @ Club Monaco
ii. I ordered couple t-shirts (size S & M) online and am hoping these will be the ones! I am really having the hardest time finding plain T-shirts. I am looking for V neck and somewhat of a loose fit. The look I am going for ... see here...
$39 @ Club Monaco
iii. I am eying these pants. I did not see them in the store today, but they seem like a great fit!
$129.50

iv. And a new artist I've been learning about... Richard Long!
"The music of stones, paths of shared footmarks, sleeping by the river's roar." In a short snapshot, Long takes long walks that sometime take few day... On his walks he collects stones and then arranges them for display - often in very simplistic linear forms... I love the idea of stones collected on solitary beautiful walks and then transformed into a piece of art... almost like small pieces of experiences pieced together into one memory...

Have a great start of the week everyone! xo

Thursday inspirations...

Work is crazy busy and it's harder and harder to find free time... Time is becoming the most precious commodity!

Today's inspirations are all about a BROWN BELT. I have few, recently I purchased a double belt from Club Monaco, but I am still looking for the perfect one. Brown belts go well with many different outfits.

I. I feel like I've have slowly accumulated the basics. A belt like this could compliment so many of my outfits. I need to find a similar one! Any recommendations?

Kate Moss + Rag & Bone

As my lovely followers might know, I am a great admirer of the nonchalant, stylishly simple, partying-at-any-age-is-good and true to her own aesthetics Kate Moss’s daily style. See here and here

What a refreshment to find out she is the new campaign face for Rag & Bone. (I found out thanks to Kate Moss daily blog - a blog I just discovered).

KM is looking perfect! Minimal make-up, messy hair and dressed in clothes that looks like they came straight out of her own wardrobe. Great job Rag & Bone! I think this is their first add campaign. Love it!

Cindy Sherman

I found out who was the very first real "fashion" blogger....Cindy Sherman. I am specifically talking about her Untitled Film Stills series.  Or it all depends how you look at it...

In any case Sherman is an acclaimed photographer, best known for her self-portraits and her prolific photographic work delivers a strong point of view. Currently exhibiting at SFMOMA her work is quite thought provoking as Sherman plays on female stereotypes and feminine expectations.

But back to the Untitled Film Stills: Sherman started working on these series in her early 20th and together they comprise of 69 self-photographs where Sherman 'acts' different female identities ranging from a blond bombshell to an innocent girl...

Her work is surely worth to experience.. Do so if you ever her the opportunity. As an interesting tidbit: Madonna sponsored one of her exhibitions at MOMA.

Tuesday cravings...

Where does the time fly? And why do I always feel there is not enough time for the zillion things I want to do and try? I really will need to start looking into better time management. Work has been quite busy and I also am trying to start going to sleep early as to get enough of beauty sleep (sleep is so very important for your body). Also... have you started watching the new Project Runway? I am excited how the show will unravel. And I am seriously contemplating to do some clothing scatches. Maybe a new hobby? Are there classes I can take?

Anyway.. I do want to keep up with my blog and it's Tuesday which goes for Tuesday cravings... Albeit shore, but here they are...

I. I'm always looking for great work dresses...

$375 Black Halo dress
II. I really wish I knew where this dress/long shirt comes from. Anyone? It looks quite comfy and might look great with a belt. I found the image on Pinterest, but it's not linked to anything.
III. If you had somehow missed, I did a posting on Bottega Veneta yesterday. Maybe if I can't buy their clothes, bags and shoes, I might splurge on one of their sunglasses. I do indeed need aviators!

$465 Bottega Veneta

Tribute to Bottega Veneta

Happy start of the week! I've fallen abit of the radar as I was working every single day this week (including this gougers and sunny weekend, unfortunately).  The insane amount of work makes me dream... Dream of a life of perfect luxury... Not that I would ever dare to say that that is all what the life should be about, but it is fun to contemplate where I would shop if I had a different life. It would be without a doubt at the unbelievable Bottega Veneta stores.

I have the atmost respect for the creative director of BV, Thomas Maier. He has created a brand that is stylishly unique, classic and timeless. BV's collections are often about neutral colors, perfect shapes and with 100% focus on quality and craftmenship. Enjoy the little slide history (starting in 2009 until today)...

I do also own a small piece from BV that is so very dear to me... ring...  and also not to forget their perfume!

Beautiful art...

My today's visit of the San Francisco Asian Art Museum brought an incredible new artist into my life, Varunika Saraf.

Wondering whether to label her as a painter, her pieces are incredible dream stories. I immediately thought of magic realism. Using vivid color-palette and immaculate painting style, her work just blew my mind away.

Saraf uses Mughal miniature painting tradition - clasical Indian painting style.

Saraf's work is being exhibited as part of the 'Phantoms of Asia: Contemporary Awakens the Past' exhibition.

Clothes, their dilemma & EMERSON FRY

Shannon from The Simply Luxurious blog mentioned a book today - Overdressed: The Shockingly High Price of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth L. Cline.
The thesis of the book is directly on point (the title speaks clearly) and so very true in my life. I spend way too much money on clothing items that are not to last. While I rarely shop at Forever 21, I feel like half of my closet could be eliminated due to its poor quality. But alas, at my age, 32, I feel the need to build a solid 'respectable' and functional wardrobe!

Actually one of the reasons for starting this blog was to try to streamline my buying process and to STOP spending on poor cheap quality clothing items. Well, I am also on a strick budget, so the transition is not coming easy. But I have made some progress. Even if I can't spend on the super priced labels, I am finding quality styles and stores that I adore.  I have proclaimed my obsession with Club Monaco on multiple occasions. Now I am also looking for a local San Francisco boutique that would fit the bill.

The second 'trick' to avoid buying mountains on unnecessary clothes (i believe) is to come up with YOUR style. Kate Moss is my fashion icon and now I've been quite obsessed with Emerson Fry's simplicity. I love her easy stylish wearable fashion. I am all about comfy heels with skinnies and t-shirts. What do you think? Her style is about quality - she often wears the same outfits, but they speak volumes as they always seem so impeccably stylish and perfect for her body. She seems to be the perfect example how you can invest in few simple pieces and look incredibly chick.

She also keeps a personal blog - 4am. It's about qirky writing, interesting images capturing simple daily beauty and some cool shots (below) of the amazing Emerson Fry!

Also not to forget: THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of you who helped me to decide which pumps to purchase. Here... I did go with Emerson Fry's black pumps. I promise to try to do a little photo shoot if I decide to keep them (they are on their way!). It's time to show off my face little bit :-)

What do you think? Do you love Emerson Fry's style as much as I do?
