Styling in a fedora...

I hope everyone is enjoying this weekend and getting some sun!

Finally I got my fedora today. The older I get, the more conscious I get about protecting my face from sun. So I finally I  found one today; fedoras seem to be everywhere this season. I don't wear hats, but this fedora might get useful for my upcoming Rhode Island and Fiji vacations. A great way to protect your face from harmful rays. And it's more stylish than a cap, if you ask me. Do you have one as well?

I got mine at Banana Republic today. Even though I am trying not to shop at BR and rather save up to by higher brand items, BR is stil great for basics. My new fedora pretty much came down to $15. Take advantage off the "40% off"! I was hoping to get one with a blue or black ribbon, but for the price... Here...

What about you? Do you have one? How do you protect your face?

please help me to decide which pair of pumps to get... xx

Happy Thursday everyone! Instead of doing Thursday inspirations, I am asking you for help. I seem not to be able to make the decision which shoes to buy. And if you can relate, you know what a hard dilemma it can be.
This might be my last shoes purchase this year (budget is kicking in!), so I want to make it a good one... I've already featured both of the items on my blog, so apologies for duplicating, but I just can't decide!

I.
I really need a pair of black stylish pumps that I can wear on a daily basis: work, happy hours or even running to catch a bus... I am not super big on pointy toes, but I love Emerson Fry and I know she comes up with quality. The price is not up yet, but I estimate around $300. One of the pictures below is Emerson wearing them! More images here

II.
Or these ones - Spanish brand Malababa? They just went on sale! It comes down to circa total $275 (including $50 euro for shipping to the US). I adore the shoes' unique, but simple shape. The problem is that I would not be able to return them if they are not as pictured.  Should I risk it? More images here

What do you think? #1 or #2?? Thank you for your input! xx

Gerhard Richter & Maison Martin Margiela

Today's mini art history excurshion is dedicated to the amazing Gerhard Richter. Richter is one of the most important contemporary artists and also (understandably)  the top selling artist. He is incredibly prolific and not shy of exploring different art medias. His photography paintings are among my favorite.

"Art is the highest form of hope." Gerhard Richter.

I had the pleasure to 'experience' this imposing painting/photograph in Chicago. We don't know much about the story of this woman, but I love her elegance & confidence of movement.

I appreciate Richter's combination of photo-realism and abstract painting...

II am thinking of pieces as bold as nature, and as confident as Richter's woman walking down the stairs...Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2012 collection!

Tuesday cravings...

Today I am inspired by this great look. I love the skirt's vibrant colors. And a white shirt pretty much goes with everything. I am a bit reluctant about the shoes, as I am one of the 'few' fashion addicts who are not into leopard prints. Yes, indeed I am not :-) I would go for black pumps - simple replacement!

Link to the original source of the above image...

When I saw the above skirt & was thinking where to look for a similar pattern, DVF immediately came to mind. Diana is a genius on creating bright prints. I found this great skirt. And it's on sale!

$137.70 (sale from $229) skinny skirt @ DVF

Believe me, I still have not found the perfect white shirt. Maybe this Mango one is the one? Also on sale!
$24.99 @ Mango

Few days ago I purchased these Zara shoes. They would go great with this whole outfit, as a matter of fact with any outfit. I have not received them yet, but hope they look like in the picture. One can't beat the price!

$49.99 @ Zara
I am looking for a pair of bright blue earrings. What about these ones? Or is it too much blue for one outfit when paired with the skirt? After all I don't like outfits that match 'perfectly'.
$48 @ Sundance

Happy Tuesday! How is everyone's week going? xo

Tory Burch: 2012 pre-fall collection...

I simply can't get enough of Tory Burch's new pre-fall collection. Full of simple sharp shapes, statement colors and pieces you can mix and match, I am utterly addicted to it. Well, in all honesty I have not been the biggest fan of Tory Burch's fashion; I simply don't like brands that display their logo in overwhelming ways. But this collection is amazing! I especially love the navy blue dominance. This collections definitely tailors to my style: urban, professional & chic. I hope I can invest in one or two pieces! And have you read Tory's blog? It's worth to check it out as well...here

This suit is simply timeless. I am defenetilly a blazer girl and especially love wearing blazers with jeans and basic T-shirts. This blazer fits the bill...
Below is the same blazer as styled by the blogger from SomethingnAvy. I love her take on it: plain white T-shirt and aviators!
Obviously I can't get over this blazer. One more picture - now from the side for a change...
This blouse has beautiful hand details. Should this be my one piece from the collection?
Beautiful timeless dress. I can image countless occasions in my life I could wear this dress to.
Another classic dress that any woman can get miles from. Simple and beautiful is the reappearing mantra.
Shirt dresses is another fashion staple that is in from season to season. Tory takes on the shirt dress seems so comfortable, yet stylish. I could wear this dress to work on a daily basis.
And last but not least: the perfect jeans!

Do you also love this collection as much as I do? What are your favorite pieces? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Renoir & stripes fashion...

Today I am enamored with Renoir's Dance at La Moulin De Galette. In this painting Renoir creates a perfect image of Parisian joy & cheerfulness. Yet Renoir was indeed a painter of illusions,  dreams, and better worlds. In fact Dance at La Moulin De Galette when painted by Renoir was a place of more murkier worlds & revolutionaries, as well as not shy of poverty and other dreads.

It's such a remarkable painting & in reality there are two versions.  One story also has it that the painter and his friends would drag a humongous  canvas into the dancing room for Renoir to paint right in the dancing hall as to remain true to impressionist style to pain outside & facing the object. And did you know Renoir painted two versions: the second elusiva (smaller) version is hidden from the public... The light depicted in the paiting is truly remarkable. And I see it as a full of fashion inspirations! As you can attest STRIPES were already in fashion back then... I simply adore the front girl's striped dress.

Hence my images for today are all about stripes! And as cliche as it is, how French is this picture. Do wear a ponytail and basic stripes top for the ultimate leisure fashion statement...

I love silk blouses. They are so comfortable to wear.
