This is a posting in my series about art and how I see art can be (and ultimately is) an indefinite inspiration for fashion...
Today it's all about the remarkable
Hiroshi Senju! I recently visited the spectacular Asian Art Museum in San Francisco and his large scale waterfall painting definitely captured my immediate attention.
Senju uses traditional Japanese style of painting -
nihon-ga.
Nihon-ga utilizes pigments from rocks & stones and as Senju explains nihon-ga paintings often project calmness and relaxation, not just because of the painting's subject matters. Humans used to apply pigments on their body in ancient times (think of make-up!) and apparently this human-pigment relationship automatically transfers into our experience with nihon-ga paintings.
Whether that is just a matter of interpretation, I certainly believe Senju's paintings do bring calmness into our lives. They are simply stunning...
And what about fashion ? I think of airy, beautiful, one piece garments, that flow downstream as waterfalls...
Something more affordable? A long dress from Mango spring collections?
And if you happent to live in San Francisco, my favorite boutique just got a beautiful blue (as the waterfall) dress...
