I am loving Issey Miyake's 2012 spring collection. This black/brown dress has the same earthy basalt combination of Izumi's piece I get to enjoy at my museum visits. And I love the colors in the second look!

Fashion via Art
My new artist discovery is a Japanese contemporary sculptor Masatoshi Izumi. I continuously pass one of his pieces at the Asian Art Museum. It's a basalt sculpture with a polished top. Water fills out the center and beautifully transforms the blackness of the basalt into a new form. The museum smartly installed a bench by the piece - one wants to sit down and have a quite time for a moment. Indeed many of Izumi's pieces seem to have an element of mind calming perfection of shapes.

Interesting sculptures. I like the Issey Miyake...I hadn't heard anything about her for a while...glad she is still designing....I used to LOOOOOOVe her perfume and still wear it occasionally.
