Today I am enamored with Renoir's Dance at La Moulin De Galette. In this painting Renoir creates a perfect image of Parisian joy & cheerfulness. Yet Renoir was indeed a painter of illusions, dreams, and better worlds. In fact Dance at La Moulin De Galette when painted by Renoir was a place of more murkier worlds & revolutionaries, as well as not shy of poverty and other dreads.
It's such a remarkable painting & in reality there are two versions. One story also has it that the painter and his friends would drag a humongous canvas into the dancing room for Renoir to paint right in the dancing hall as to remain true to impressionist style to pain outside & facing the object. And did you know Renoir painted two versions: the second elusiva (smaller) version is hidden from the public... The light depicted in the paiting is truly remarkable. And I see it as a full of fashion inspirations! As you can attest STRIPES were already in fashion back then... I simply adore the front girl's striped dress.
Hence my images for today are all about stripes! And as cliche as it is, how French is this picture. Do wear a ponytail and basic stripes top for the ultimate leisure fashion statement...
